This line is what really grabbed me in my creative writing class. A couple months later it was a shit rain day, everything wasn’t going “right” and Charles Bukowski’s poetry was the only thing really making sense lately. Yankee Tattoo in Burlington, Vermont has never done me wrong and I highly recommend Anthony. As for the placement, I wanted something others could enjoy sometimes, and me all the time.
she’ mad but she’ magic
Well, guess I just figured out the place I’ll get my next (birthday?) tattoo.
My favorite word. I love how versatile it is.
It can be used as an affirmation, “Here I am.“ It can be used to incite action, ”Come here.“ It can be used as a concession, “Here. Take it.” It can be used to express a sense of belonging,”Here in your arms.” It can be used to summarize Kurt Cobain’s sense of displacement, “Neither here nor there.” It can be used to describe Doug Martsch’s quiet desperation, “You should’ve been here.” It can be used to proclaim Stephen Malkmus’ veiled truths, “Everything’s ending here.” It can be used as a sum of all these parts in addition to serving as my own reminder against the waves of wanderlust and light living, an appeal to stop getting lost and stay, ”here.”
This is my favorite tattoo/explanation I’ve ever seen.
Pick Me Up Cafe in Lakeview
This photo brings butterflies to my stomach. I feel like I’ve grown so much from knowing Pick Me Up, and it’s ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS going to be the restaurant I’ll bring people to whenever they’re in town. And Rachel and I know have our “usuals:” CAB omelettes with toast (she gets 12 grain, I get white). Their homefries are TO DIE FOR.
Ok, enough swooning over Pick Me Up. It’s just the best.
[Picture: Background - six sections like a pie, each with a different page of a book or writing in sepia tones. Foreground - disembodied head of a panda, chewing a plant stalk also in a sepia tone. Top text: “Print stories for workshop class” Bottom text: “Go through three ink cartridges in one semester”]
OH MY GOD YES YES YES.
[Picture: Background — a six piece pie style colour split, alternating black and grey. Foreground — a picture of an armadillo. Top text: “’Download music illegally” Bottom text: “Spend hours editing song titles, authors, and album names for proper capitalization”]
GPOY.
My third tattoo: the Chicago skyline. A copy of a computer sticker from Etsy. Love my city.
I think this is awesome.
